ABOUT THE TORRANCE AIRPORT ASSOCIATION

The Torrance Airport Association promotes the safe operation and proper management of the Torrance Municipal Airport.

Like freeways, highways and streets, Torrance Airport is a public transportation facility serving the entire South Bay area. Furthermore, Torrance Airport is a valuable local "on-ramp" to an extensive general aviation transportation system that includes 95% of all aircraft and 75% of all takeoffs and landings in the nation--connecting Torrance to similar airports throughout the hemisphere. Business-related flights make up 2/3 of the 31 million hours flown nationally by these general aviation aircraft every year. Many of these flights begin or end at our airport. They support many South Bay businesses and provide valuable emergency services to our community.

After conducting a successful large-scale disaster drill, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) concluded that general aviation pilots, aircraft, and airports (such as Torrance Airport) are key resources in event of a national or regional disaster emergency. Torrance Airport will play a key role.

Torrance Airport Association is the largest organization supporting the interests of the aviation community at the Torrance Airport. Our members annually elect directors and officers to actively represent them on issues of safety and proper management of the airport. TAA sends e-mail ALERTS regarding issues involving Torrance Airport and aviation.
