TORRANCE DISASTER AIRLIFT RESPONSE TEAM (T-DART)

Practice Mission November 11, 2017

The mission simulated a large-scale earthquake that seriously compromised the surface transportation capabilities in the West Los Angeles/Santa Monica area. Aircraft from local airports flew to Brackett Airport (KPOC) to pick up simulated critical medical supplies and delivered them to the Santa Monica Airport (KSMO). As in the previous exercise in January of this year, the Red Cross was a key participant in the exercise and demonstrated making a total Red Cross “air bridge” capable of transporting forty tons or more of supplies per day to serve the City of Santa Monica and surrounding cities.
